What a good set of lads these are......Spencer wore his tabard!

Ouch, my finger always gets caught in these balloons.

it's alright for you..........look what he made me wear!

Just before the rush.

Nicole, The Lydd Carnival Queen, lent some glamour.

Script, microphone and action!

Winning boys, perhaps more runners next year?

One of the creators, Sue, has a hug with Arthur and Gladys.

Thank goodness Frank was there to keep the balloons grounded.

What a great sight....this is what we want more of.

Unorthodox name the sheep selection method.......but it worked!

Umbrella, sunglasses, radio, camera, bag..........
Why doesn't he wear a tabard like everyone else?

Relief at last, all envelopes given out.

Look Noel, it's quite straight forward. Third world citizens can put them up after earthquakes!
Report
It doesn't seem like November last year when the idea first went to council but it has taken
quite some time and effort to get to the actual staging of the event. Sometimes a struggle many times
a rewarding experience to see people and businesses respond to the Rotary name and help me out.
So many things we got for free and this allowed this first BaaBaa to raise an estimated £2000.
To all fellow Rotarians who helped on the day a big thank you, to my colleague Ray who had faith from the start
and to those many folk who dip in their pockets to provide sponsorship an even bigger thank you.
Watching the participants finish I think that they enjoyed and achieved. They'll be back for more next time!
Lydd Club Day-June 21st

The new stall was making it's debut and I hope members agree that it looks the business!. Thanks to John we fitted most of the bits together in almost the right order.
Also featured is the new flag so thanks to Pete Brown.

The next new item was of course Arthur The Baa-Baa mascot. Seen here on the left. The person of the right is agroupie and appears wherever Arthur is appearing.
Arthur's creater, Nicky did a great job considering she started with a builders hat and a lot of plastic bits attached to it. What a fabulous chap he is.
The object was to promot the upcoming Baa-Baa Charity Walk and the crack team of assembled Rotarians did just that. Ray distributed over 200 reg/entry forms. David, Steve, Roy & John sold between them 130 'name the sheep' entries and 63 balloon race entries.
With Pauline and Sue chaperoning the out-of-control Arthur it was a really productive day.
Thanks to all.
PS. Your next chance to meet the celeb sheep is Saturday June 28th outside Sainsbury's.
June 28th- Sainsbury's - New Romney
Bigger and better with a new 'Thank You' sign added which featured all the sponsors and advertisers supporting the Baa-Baa event. On the other panel was a list of this years grant receipiants covering local and international grants made by the club.

With the co-operation of the Sainsbury management and a bit of enthusiastic persuasion we awere able to get a Baa-Baa banner in a great advertising spot...............above the Sainsbury sign on the main road. Hopefully, everyone travelling along the A259 eastward will see it!

On the financial front we raised over £250 with the Name the Sheep almost selling out and the Balloon Race reaching the break even point. Final sales on the Baa-Baa Day itself will see healthy profit.
Thanks to the Rotary team of John, Ray, Frank, Jim, Derek, Rod, Pete, David and Malcolm. Special note of thanks to the celb sheep Arthur who has yet to see where he is going and wave at the correct person!
See you on the big day .....................all help needed, eleven rotarians so far signed up.
Don't forget to tell neighbours and friends.
