Polio Eradication Campaign

The campaign started n 1985 and has achieved great success. Only 4 countries remain out of 125

with polio Type 1. However, this is the most virulent.

Funding has come from governments, $700million and private grants most noteably from

the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation - $100million. It is this grant that we have to match and that

works out at £500 each year  from our club for the next three years.

Rest assured that the methodology in tackling this desease is constantly reviewed as is  the cost

effectiveness of eradication in comparison to containment.
