ROTARY FOUNDATION
The mission of the Rotary Foundation is to enable Rotarians to advance world understanding, goodwill and peace through the improvement of health, the support of education and the elleviation of poverty.
The Rotary Foundation is a not-for-profit corporation that is supported entirely by voluntary contributions from Rotarians and friends of the Foundation who share its vision of a better world.
The Foundation was created in 1917 as an endowment fund to do good in the world.
It has grown from an initial contribution of
US$26.50 to more than US$117.9 million

POLIO PLUS
The elimination o Polio is possibly Rotary’s biggest venture. Thanks to Rotary, working
With the WHO,Polio has now 99% eliminated. The terrible scourge that crippled
Children is wiped out in most countries. Before Rotary’s intervention a 1000 children a
day were paralysed, now only four countries are Polio endemic
Rotary has spent US$600 million in 122 countries and this money has been given or raised by Rotarians right around the world.
Tens of thousands of Rotarians have also actively assisted with
the delivery of the immunisation; Rotarian doctors have given their time free of charge and volunteers from many countries have made this possible.
The WHO has recognised Rotary’s part in this global programme.
EDUCATION
The Educational Division of the Rotary Foundation exists to achieve world understanding and peace through
The exchange of people internationally. It is the specific mission of the Educational Programme Mission to
provide quality and services to those individuals who apply for funding and logistic support to undertake a
term of study or teaching abroad that is enhanced by becoming involved with Rotary before, after and during their travel. The division,in conjuction with Rotarians, Rotary clubs and Districts shall apply its assistance through scholarship, fellowship and grant processes.
