Greetings and welcome to the
Rotary Club of South Foreland.
Thank you for deciding to view
our web site. You won’t be disappointed. This web-site will
inform you of the projects we are involved in as well as telling you
all about Rotary and our Club in particular.
You will find that we were formed
in 1985, quite a young club as some clubs go but involved in many
projects past and present. We were formed by the Rotary Clubs of
Deal, Sandwich, and Dover and the majority of members either live or
work in these towns or surrounding villages. Some of our members
are retired but many are still in active employment in a variety of
occupations.
This year the motto chosen by our
International President is ‘make dreams real’. One
Of his aims is for us to reduce
child mortality. Hopefully in South Foreland we can help to do this
by two of the projects we intend to raise funds for in this Rotary
year being:
-
The
eradication of Polio
-
To help
clear landmines
Closer to home we intend to
present dictionaries to schools. These will be presented to Schools
for prizes and projects that the children become involved in.
We also intend to raise funds for
Prostrate Cancer and Breast Cancer and have many fun raising ideas
to help achieve this.
To enable the Club to achieve its
goals throughout the year there must be fellowship.
Many of the activities involve
Club members, their families and friends working together on fund
raising activities to achieve the final goal. Whatever the fun
raising activity is we work together as a team and have fun and
fellowship while doing so.
If you are not a member of Rotary
and would be interested in knowing more about membership and our
Club please contact us for more details.
In the meantime enjoy looking
through the pages of this web site. You will see that we do have
fun by all the smiling faces in the photographs and find out about
us past and present.
