In 1984 the Rotary clubs of Dover, Deal, and Sandwich, all then lunchtime clubs,  sponsored  the formation of a new Club to meet in the evenings.
The inaugural meeting took place in August 1984 in Dover.
  The Founder President was Dennis Jerden, a local builder and estate developer.
  The Club held its Charter Night on 22 May 1985 at the Westgate Hall Canterbury.
  There were 27 founder members, of whom after 20 years 11 are still members.
  13 of the founder members were former members of Dover Round Table.
