First funds distributed for successful Rotary Club collection
The first local charity to benefit from the Rotary Club of Whitstable’s Christmas Collection has been the TASH Disability Group who have been presented with a cheque for £300 part of the £4016 raised by the club through its collections at Tesco’s and Sainsbury’s stores before Christmas.
Speaking at the Rotary Club’s meeting on Tuesday evening, Christine Raynor the group’s
organizer told members that “TASH, the Thursday Afternoon Self Help Group meets in

Rotary Club President Norman Hollamby said “We are grateful to Christine for taking the time to come and speak to us this evening about the group and we are pleased to have been able to make a contribution to a local cause that does so much in improving the quality of life for those whose lives have been marred by disability”.

Rotary Club of Whitstable Charity ‘Gala Concert’ Evening
‘An evening of Romance’ is the promise on offer from the Rotary Club of Whitstable
when they hold this year’s annual charity gala concert at the Whitstable Playhouse
on Friday 12th February. It will mark a major change in the events programme -
Kim Foster has organized the event since its inception over a decade ago “It has been thought for some while that the evening was in need of a change and although the proms evening has been extremely popular, the club felt that the concert was in need of revitalization”
“It was with some trepidation that I broached the idea of a change with Kent Music’s Director, Kerry Boyle. To my surprise she was most enthusiastic for a change of direction and agreed to come up with a new programme which will incorporate the concert band and full orchestra. The students have already started rehearsing, although the details will be announced later”
