Rotary is a network of community volunteers, business professionals and community leaders who provide humanitarian service and encourage high ethical standards and build goodwill.
I am sure we can adapt to the future demands both locally and Internationally and look closely at the manner in which we support local groups.
One of our Clubs great strengths is a balanced mix of professions and business backgrounds creating a strong team in supporting all our community and fund raising activities together with our International projects. We have strong fellowship and friendships and we can always be assured of lively banter in our meetings!!!!
We are always looking for local and as well as national and international causes that could benefit from the wide range of expertise within the Club and would welcome ideas from the community on how Rotary could assist with local needs and good causes.
I have lived and worked in Whitstable since 1976 as an Estate Agent and have been involved with many community development projects. The business Fosters Property Services was sold in 2003 and I then set up a yacht charter company The Boat Company, although I still continue with my Land & Property Consultancy providing independent advice. With 2 daughters and a granddaughter who live locally they inevitably manage to keep me mindful of the young in our society.
Having been in Whitstable Rotary for nearly 20 years I am very proud to be President this year and look forward to continuing our involvement within our community and looking at ways in which we can benefit other organisations.
As President for the next year I firmly believe that a vision for Whitstable Rotary is not the same as a desire to change. We need to retain what is good and acknowledge what is different from when I first joined Rotary in 1991. Society has changed but the need for our advice and service has not. As President this year I represent the Club and all the members to promote our aims of ‘Service Above Self’ a role that is unique to Rotary.
