We can look forward to a busy and productive year within the club with the committee chairmen reporting at Club Assembly on the projects and ideas that will give every member of the club the chance to participate.

We continue to be involved with the Thailand project and hopefully we will see the completion of the seating area on the Tankerton slopes to complete the Centenary Project.

The first Whitstable Races was a great success, despite the weather, and a huge vote of thanks go to Roger Baker in particular, and his team, for getting the event together.  Hopefully this will be the start what should be a regular attraction in Whitstable.

We are lucky in Rotary District 1120 to have the energy and commitment of the new District Governor, Dennis Spiller, ably assisted by the Assistant Governors which in our case is Martin Williams.

District has laid out the challenges that they hope each club will aim towards with the target being the award of the Presidential Citation as a bench mark.

The focus for this club will be Membership, where I would like to achieve at least a net gain of two, continued support to both Foundation, and the Make a Wish Foundation.  The latter is a national organisation that exists to fulfil the wishes of terminally ill children.  We have been asked to raise a minimum of £250 per club to donate to the Foundation by organising an event that will do that.  I am sure that this target will be met with ease.

We have not adopted the Club Leadership Plan but that does not mean that we cannot take best practice from it.  Experience will tell us if we need to change.

I am grateful for the continued support of Paul Addis as Secretary, I know I shall need it, and Don Howson as Treasurer.  I am very pleased to have Roger Baker as Vice President and thank the rest of the team that make up the officers of the club.

Other than that, it is business as usual.  We have a great club which is testament to the quality of its members.  Let’s have another great year.

It is with great pleasure and pride that I take over the Presidency of Whitstable Rotary Club and the first thing I want to do is to thank Jerry Mills for a great year in the hot seat and continuing the momentum that our club has enjoyed over many years.
