Rotary Club of Whitstable
Battle of the School Bands Competition 2008
Over subscribed -
On Saturday 5th April, 2008, Whitstable Rotary Club will be hosting a
Battle of the Bands competition at the Kings Hall in Herne Bay.
Bands are invited to compete providing their members are all between the
ages of 13 and 19 and in full-
Entry forms have been sent to all local schools along with judging rules and
conditions of entry, but can also be downloaded (below).
President, Mike Trotter, stated that while Rotary Clubs do a lot of work for local, national and international good causes, this year we would like to do something for the youth of the area. Music is an important part of youth culture and this competition will give the competitors an ideal platform to show what they can do with the added bonus of some excellent prizes.
Initial interest has been high and up to five hundred people are expected to attend the evening. A wide range of first class prizes are on offer, including a recording session and opportunity to cut a CD, £250 of music equipment vouchers from Music Bay in Herne Bay and other valuable prizes.
The evening has been generously sponsored by Kent County Council, KMFM and FSC Music Ltd without whose help it would have been impossible to stage. In the event of any profit being made from the evening, this will be split equally between Rotary charities and the schools that have submitted competitors.
An announcement with respect to the band line up and ticket availability will be made in early February. The closing date for entry is 29th February, but it is recommended that those interested in competing should send in their entry forms as soon as possible.
