Thursday 13th July saw the latest installment of the annual cricket match between Whitstable and Herne Bay Rotary clubs - the result of which was depressingly familiar !

On a beautiful summer's evening, Whitstable took the field, and with some spectacular skills on display managed to dismiss Herne Bay for about one hundred and sixty -something; there were catches, bowl outs, run outs ( I think!) and the entire team played in the true spirit of Rotary fellowship ( ie. we need more practise !)

We then batted; there were some notable scores but as the game progressed it became clear that sadly we were not going to challenge the target significantly and the inevitable conclusion was reached.

There was a splendid buffet organised by Herne Bay afterwards, with speeches of victory, defeat, and thanks by all concerned, and the gauntlet was thrown down again for next year's event - training sessions will be notified in due course !
